Ontario Trade Mission to Denmark

The Hon. Victor Fedeli, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, headed a trade mission from May 1-3, 2024 in Denmark to promote trade & partnership opportunities in the life sciences sector.

  • In 2023, trade between Ontario & Denmark was $1.9B.

  • Ontario is home to the largest life sciences sector in Canada, with over 72,000 workers and 2,000 firms.

  • As part of Ontario’s life sciences strategy “Taking Life Sciences to the Next Level,” Ontario plans to grow the sector to 85k jobs by 2030.

  • In 2023, Ontario attracted $11B in foreign direct investment, creating 12,000 new jobs!


Minister Fedeli started off his day in Copenhagen by meeting with the Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Ambassador of Canada to the Kingdom of Denmark, he then participated in a business roundtable with Danish companies to discuss how they support Ontario start-ups as they bring their innovative life sciences products to market.


Minister Fedeli and his team held meetings with Healthcare Denmark to learn Danish healthcare expertise and innovation, the Danish Life Science Cluster as well as a productive dialogue with the Danish Ministry of Business, Industry & Financial Affairs to discuss innovation & growth in the Life Sciences Sector. In addition, the Minister visited HQ of Novo Nordisk, Coloplast, DESMI Pumps, Netlight and LEO Pharma.


We look forward to seeing the developments of this trip in strengthening an economic partnership between Ontario and Denmark!
